Positioned along the southern highway which supplies western provinces, Bayankhongor has one of the more active marketplaces in west of Ulaanbaatar. Various studies also indicate that Bayankhongor may be the future renewable energy capital of Mongolia with excellent exposure to solar rays and wind as well as excellent geothermal activity.
